Active Matter is Gaijin Entertainment's take on the extraction genre. Set across a multiverse of unstable time loops and anomalies, players scavenge gear, resources, and artifacts before extracting. The PvPvE core feels familiar from other genre entries, but the sci-fi setting built around time manipulation is a genuinely distinct twist. Anomalies and time-loop events keep reshaping maps and loot distribution.
An early build has been playable through the game's own launcher since September 2025, with a proper Steam Early Access launch planned for 2026. For now it's sold in paid editions rather than a single entry price, plus a separate Xbox demo. Worth an early look if you want a sci-fi alternative to the mostly military-themed shooters in this genre, just expect the rough edges of a young project.
