For the first time, MADFINGER Games has put numbers on its fight against cheaters in Gray Zone Warfare: 5,335 bans during the Update 0.4 cycle alone.
And it is about to get stricter, with Rogue Ops bringing faster permanent bans and new in-house anti-cheat tools.
The numbers from Update 0.4
The Security Report covers April 1 to October 14, 2026:
- Total bans: 5,335
- Permanent: 2,233
- Temporary: 3,102
- For harassment: 267
- For teamkilling: 1,044
On top of that, a big ban wave went out this week: thanks to improved detection, another 1,239 accounts confirmed to have cheated during 0.4 were permanently banned.
Harsher penalties, faster
Gray Zone Warfare already runs several layers of protection: in-house tools, Easy Anti-Cheat and Anybrain. Rogue Ops adds more in-house tooling, and the studio has put more people on the problem. The key change for cheaters: permanent bans will come earlier, especially when the most reliable systems flag someone or the offence is serious.
MADFINGER does not want to rely purely on automation, though. Human review stays part of the process to keep false positives to a minimum. The studio is also honest about the limits: cheating is a multi-billion-dollar industry and will never disappear completely. The goal is to make it as hard and expensive as possible.
More transparency for players
- Code of Conduct: a dedicated page spelling out what gets punished and how.
- In-game notification: you will be told when action has been taken against a player you reported.
- Regular reports: significant enforcement actions will keep being made public.
Already in September: dupe exploit punished
A first report back in September set the tone. It covered an exploit that let players duplicate items through a death by helicopter. Some used it to buy huge numbers of mortar strikes and rain them on others. Close to 40 accounts got temporary suspensions and account wipes, and the exploit itself has long been fixed.
