Rogue Ops is live: Update 0.5 gives Gray Zone Warfare your own Hideout, smuggling contracts, three huge new locations and seven new weapons.

It is the fourth major update and the step out of pre-alpha, and MADFINGER has packed it accordingly.

TL;DR: What to expect

  • Hideout with Laboratory, Electronics Workshop and Utility Room
  • crafting, hacking tools in three tiers
  • smuggling and hunting as new activities
  • three new Tier 4 locations and 15+ smaller ones
  • 7 new weapons, 370 weapon parts
  • up to four characters, a soft wipe instead of a full reset
  • smarter AI, a streamlined health system, around 10 percent more FPS

The Hideout: your own operation

Once you hit certain vendor ranks, you unlock your own Hideout. It has three rooms whose stations you build and upgrade with resources from Lamang:

  • Laboratory: produces medical items, stims and other substances to sell or process further. A new semi-passive income source.
  • Electronics Workshop: breaks devices down into components and intel, which become tracking tags and hacking tools. The latter open electronic locks and restricted areas.
  • Utility Room: powers the other rooms.

Crafting is almost instant, while production and disassembly take time. This is explicitly only the first iteration, with research and more upgrade levels planned later.

Smugglers versus hunters

For a smuggling contract, you hand contraband to a vendor, pick up a smuggling backpack at a marked spot and then have one hour to carry it across Lamang to the drop zone. The catch: the backpack is visible to others. In the PvEvP mode Warfare, that makes smugglers a target for hunters. In the PvE mode Joint Operations, hunting means fighting AI enemies instead.

New locations and new guns

Three new Tier 4 locations bring tough enemies and their own stories: the Lakevale Sanctuary asylum, the Northern Reach military research site and the RLSL-1 radio observatory. On top of that come 15+ smaller spots such as jungle drug huts, Khmer temple ruins and underground tunnels.

New to the arsenal are the AUG (including the AUG A3), Benelli M4, G3, G36, FAMAS, UMP and Glock 18C. Most of them are found in the world rather than bought from vendors.

AI, health and tech

  • AI: bandages itself, and some factions throw grenades and execute downed players.
  • Health: treatment now works per body part instead of per wound.
  • Tech: Unreal Engine 5.7 and the Iris networking system deliver roughly 10 percent more FPS, according to the studio.

Twitch Drops and a first ban wave

Twitch Drops run in five stages until November 6, with starter and Hideout packs plus exclusive apparel that survives future wipes. The new anti-cheat tools are already working too: 293 accounts were permanently banned during the Supporter Preview and the first hours after release.
