Active Matter has sold more than 500,000 copies, about six weeks after launching on Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox.
Gaijin co-founder Anton Yudintsev calls it "a very strong result for a hardcore game like ours" and announces the first major update since launch.
Half a million across every platform
The figure covers sales on Steam, the Gaijin.Net Store, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. What pleases Gaijin most is how steady sales have stayed since launch. According to Yudintsev, that kind of long tail is typical for hardcore titles that grow through word of mouth and a committed community.
The first major update is in the works
Matter Team is already working on the first big content update since launch. On the list:
- new maps
- new weapons
- new monsters and bosses
- visual improvements for more atmosphere
There is no date yet, with details promised soon. Gaijin stresses that it wants to keep expanding the game over the coming years.
Steam Deck, a discount and Ozernoe on fire
A few more bits of news landed around the milestone:
- Steam Deck: Valve officially rates Active Matter as "Playable", and compatibility with Steam Machines is confirmed too.
- Steam Scream: from October 26 to November 2, the Standard Edition is 20 percent off, and the pricier editions get cheaper as well.
- Ozernoe: Firestorm: a limited Overtime Raid, solo only, in a burning Ozernoe full of burning Devourers, Scorches and fire anomalies. A fire extinguisher in a weapon slot helps against flames and burning enemies.
