MINTROCKET has answered another batch of community questions from Discord for NAKWON: LAST PARADISE, and one answer draws a clear line on loot.
PvPvE will always offer a shot at slightly better gear than PvE, even on maps of the same difficulty.
PvPvE versus PvE: who gets the better loot?
One player asked whether each mode could get its own rewards, such as gear with bonuses against the infected in PvE and against players in PvPvE. The answer: separate gear stats per mode are not planned. The team worries that players would get locked into one mode and find it harder and harder to switch.
Instead, anyone braving PvPvE always has a chance at more valuable items. The risk of other players gets rewarded without leaving PvE players far behind.
More variety for zombies
The studio responded to several ideas for more varied infected one by one:
- Disguised Aberrant Infected: could create great moments, but also plenty of frustration. If at all, only in specific situations.
- New attacks like grabbing, scratching or shoving: still being explored.
- Fallen players turning into zombies: interesting, but it clashes with planned systems.
- Infected in survivor gear: the Gatherer already fills a similar role, and more Aberrant types are planned.
Characters, alignment and matchmaking
The character creator is getting a big expansion: gender, skin tone, face, eyebrow and beard colour, hairstyle, hair colour and extras like scars. The idea is that players from any background can build a character that feels right for them.
On the upcoming alignment system, MINTROCKET is clear: it will not affect matchmaking, and it is tracked per player. What your teammate does will not rub off on you. A hidden MMR already existed in the Closed Alpha Test, but it was deliberately tuned very lightly to keep queues fast.
Anything else?
- Cooking: food buffs are on the table, but not a priority right now.
- Box Disguise: a damage penalty while in box form is being discussed internally.
- Other countries: settings outside South Korea would be nice, but only if the game becomes a big hit.
