Blood Testament enters its second act: with Chapter 2, Crytek sets the bayou and the mountains of Hunt: Showdown 1896 on fire, and the Inferno time of day is back.
That is only the start, because the All Hallows' Cleave community event and the return of the Bileweavers follow on October 13.
Inferno returns
The Inferno time of day brings wildfires to every map. Heavy smoke cuts visibility, and the fires sit in fixed spots that block key routes, so you will have to plan your paths again.
AI generally avoids the fire zones but can follow you through the flames or take shortcuts across them if it has to. Inferno stays in the active time of day rotation throughout Chapters 2 and 3.
Firefighter Supply and the Flame Rifle
To go with it there is a new type of supply that only appears during Inferno: the Firefighter Supply. It holds valuable rewards like the Scouting Map, Tarot Cards and, above all, the Flame Rifle.
The Flame Rifle is a scarce weapon that releases pressurised liquid and turns it into a steady burst of flame. It is guaranteed to be in every Firefighter Supply.
All Hallows' Cleave from October 13
On October 13 the All Hallows' Cleave community event starts, with five stages. You progress it by earning Community Event Points from objectives in matches. The key unlocks:
- Stage 1, The Atlas Tarot Card: reveals all hidden locations on the map.
- Stage 3, The Temperance Tarot Card: restores the last Trait your hunter lost, including Traits lost to Siphon.
- Stage 5, Long Derringer: a small single-shot pistol using Long Ammo, with high damage, reduced velocity and better accuracy at short to medium range.
Bileweavers and the new Bloodweavers
The Bileweavers come back with the event as well. They have infested 20 new Compounds across all maps, five of which are picked per match. The Flame Rifle should come in very handy there.
New are the Bloodweavers, a deadlier variant:
- Their jump attack and hatching eggs cause Bleeding damage.
- You can spot them by their red bodies, and their eggs are red with spikes.
- They only appear during the Blood Moon time of day.
Regular Bileweaver eggs have a new colour too, to better show how poisonous they are.
New DLC and Story Challenge
Around Chapter 2, Crytek released more content:
- Bound by Blood: a new DLC with the Legendary Hunter The Protegee, a Mosin-Nagant called The Primrose and skins for the Sparks Pistol.
- Cursed Kin: a new four-chapter Premium Story Challenge about an estranged cousin trying to take over Moses Poultry.
- Update 2.9.1: DLC owners get matching hunter avatars for their profile, plus a fix for an exploit that gave infinite Dark Sight.
